Whistleblower Alleges Safety Issues in Boeing 787 Dreamliner Planes #

A whistleblower recently raised concerns about the manufacturing process of Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner planes, claiming that parts were built in an unsafe manner. The whistleblower, a mechanic at a contractor for Boeing’s manufacturing partner Spirit Aerosystems, alleges improper drilling of holes into the forward pressure bulkheads of the planes. These bulkheads are critical for the structural integrity of the aircraft while in flight. The whistleblower filed a complaint about substandard manufacturing and maintenance processes, but was fired shortly after. Boeing contends that their investigation found no safety problems, but will review the new claims. This is another challenge added to Boeing’s growing list of problems.
